SOUTH KINGSTOWN – Write, rehearse and perform six new plays in a single day? On Jan. 7, a talented slate of local writers, directors and actors will do just that and bring hilarious, one-of-a-kind scripts to life, in just 24 hours. First presented by the Contemporary Theater Company in 2006, the festival has become a signature, not-to-be-missed event where anything can happen.

Penned during the early morning hours and rehearsed during the day, the plays take the stage at the South Kingstown High School Auditorium at 8 p.m. sharp – perfected or not. At the end of the night, audience members vote for their favorite shows and humorous prizes are presented to the fan favorites.

“After six years, this festival is stronger than ever,” Artistic Director Christopher J. Simpson said. “Every year our writers, directors and actors find creative ways to stage superb plays in an amazingly short period of time.”

Tickets for the Jan. 7 at 8 p.m. show are $12 and available at the door, online at www.TheContemporaryTheater.com or by phone at (401) 218-0282. The South Kingstown High School Auditorium is located at 215 Columbia St., Wakefield, RI. The auditorium is handicapped accessible.
